What's a Doula Anyways?

A Doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to their client before, during, and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible (DONA.org). Doulas can help families make informed choices based on their values, provide resources, and facilitate communication between themselves and the healthcare team.

Why should I hire a Doula

Besides having another person to support you during this exciting time, Doulas are known to provide the following benefits:

What makes DONA Doulas different

DONA International is the world's leading doula organization. DONA focuses on providing evidence-based doula training, certification, and continuing education. By hiring a DONA Doula, families can find comfort in getting someone who has completed in-depth, high-quality, evidence-based training.

But what if I want an epidural?

Know you want an epidural? Great! Doulas can help you feel supported and relaxed during your birth while also providing informational support. Doulas can also help keep things progressing by moving you in different "epidural approved" positions during labor.

Can you help my partner too?

Absolutely! I can help your partner understand what to expect during birth and help you both make informed decisions about your birthing experience. I can also teach your partner certain comfort measures to utilize during labor (Comfort Measures Class) or coach them on how to support you in labor.

What if I don't want a doula, but still want prenatal/postpartum support

Not sure if you want a Doula? That's okay, too. I offer a few classes that can help you prepare for labor. I provide a range of personalized services like the Comfort Measures class and Birth Preference Plan to help you prep for birth. During these sessions, I will teach you the skills to manage your pain during birth, help you think through contingency plans, and how to ask informed questions during labor.

When should I book?

You can book as soon as you're ready to hold your date. We will meet around 25+ weeks (or sooner if you book prenatal yoga).

*Availability for Labor Support Packages is limited, so book soon to lock in availability.
